If you're trying to keep those pesky flies and wasps away from your garden patio but don't want to use chemicals, it's probably best to seek out a candle that contains Citronella.
Citronella is an eco friendly fragrance that masks other smells, such as food or scents that attract wasps, flies and insects. Therefore, insects have no way of 'sniffing out' the food they're looking for and simply stay away.
The heat from the burning candle is also likely to scare off any little creatures but please make sure you pick a candle that is intended for outdoor use - some glass candles are not designed to be used outdoors and the glass can crack in extreme temperatures - you may not even notice and when you go to light the candle....disaster!
Citronella infused candles are likely available at your local supermarket, in the BBQ aisle or you can purchase some outdoor tealights from a local candle maker and dot them around your patio area when you're having a meal outdoors.
