Reducing Waste One Box At A Time

Reducing Waste One Box At A Time

At Country & Cove, we are consistently trying to reduce our environmental impact on the planet by taking simple steps to reduce the volume of waste we, as a small business, produce in the UK.

Our business started in October 2022 and, at first, our priority was simply to get as many customers as we could, in order to grow! We ordered packaging we could afford, we took 2 or 3 days to ship each order, everything was new and fresh but it was incredibly difficult to keep everything in stock and brand new for our customers.

Fast forward a little over 1 year and we're now able to ship faster and give our customers the added bonus of 100% recyclable packaging, with zero plastic. We've cut out the plastic box fillings, we've cut out plastic packaging tape, we've replaced glossy printed delivery boxes with kraft card, that is fully recyclable in the UK. We've also added kraft crinkle-cut paper to all of our gift boxes, further ensuring we provide recyclable packaging for our customers.

LOW CARBON DELIVERY TO YOUR DOOR
What's the least impactful method of delivering to your door? On foot? We can do that! Almost all of our customer deliveries are now handled by Royal Mail, so the last mile of your parcels journey is incredibly low carbon. Our parcels are either delivered by your local postie, on foot or using one of their electric delivery vans.

We've also taken steps to reduce the size of our packaging, so you don't get a massive box with a tiny candle rolling around inside. Our packaging has a 'snug' fit, reducing weight, reducing the amount of packaging used and, when you do need to recycle, our delivery boxes can be unfolded and neatly placed in your dedicated recycling bin!

LOW CARBON DELIVERY TO YOUR STORE
But, we're now going even further! When we deliver our Wholesale Candles to retailers up and down the country , we now re-use the packaging from our own suppliers where possible. Boxes are re-taped after packing, we re-use filling paper where possible and we've reduced the need to constantly purchase new, large boxes for our wholesale customers.

Large orders - less delivery trips! As our business has grown, we've been able to invest in larger quantities of stock. Reducing the volume of deliveries from our suppliers and further reducing our carbon footprint. Instead of multiple deliveries per week, we now focus on one delivery that covers all our needs for the week ahead.
