Can Scented Candles Cause Headaches

The short answer is - maybe?

We're all unique - so it stands to reason that our reaction to certain aromas may vary, depending on our DNA.

Some people can light up dozens of candles in a room, read a book, watch a film and have no reaction at all. Others however, may suffer from something called perfume sensitivity.

Perfume sensitivity can cause adverse reactions to all or certain fragranced products - sneezing, coughing, itchy eyes, rashes and headaches can all be caused by someone burning a candle or even by someone fanning out the reeds in their reed diffuser.

The makeup of fragrance oils is unique to each fragrance and each manufacturer. That's why some people with perfume sensitivity may only be affected by a certain scent or brand - depending on the materials used in production.

We always recommend seeking medical advice for any reactions and we cannot offer any support or advice when it comes to peoples reactions with scented candles or scented products, so please make sure you speak to a medical professional if you think you're having an allergic reaction to something.
